About Him
Dr. Uttiya Bhattacharyya is a Chemical Engineer from Jadavpur University with an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. With his continuous zeal of learning, Dr. Bhattacharyya has been conferred with a doctorate degree in Management from the prestigious Institute for Technology and Management (ITM), Raipur, recently.
He joined IndianOil in 1989 and since then have taken up different assignments in the field of Petroleum Products, Logistics, Operation and Marketing. He has amicably handled sectors like Aviation, Bulk Petroleum Logistics Marine business and B2B marketing to mention a few. His journey in the corporate world has been a long and fruitful one spanning over 32 years and still going strong.
Dr. Bhattacharyya is an expert in Petroleum supply chain and has to his credit a number of publications in both Indian and International journals on varying aspects of petroleum supply chain. He has also been bestowed with the ‘Best Thesis Medal’ from the University of Ljubljana at Slovenia for his thesis on ‘Indian Railways’ and ‘Indian Oil Business Re-engineering’. From being a key player in formulating strategies, business processes and organizational setup re-orientation of the marine function as per the market dynamics of the petroleum sector in IndianOil, his contribution has been immense in re-aligning functional aspects and has resulted in enhanced market reach and focus on marine and bunker business of IndianOil in India.
Widely travelled both within and outside the country Dr. Bhattacharyya has served the Zambia National Oil Company at Zambia, Africa on behalf of IndianOil, successfully managing complete operations of IndianOil’s only fuel terminal at Ndola for over three years.
He has headed IndianOil's marketing activities in seven North-Eastern States namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura besides Central & Eastern Bhutan. The all-important portfolio comprised of administrative and function control of all the petroleum product line and associated activities.
Since 2020, Dr. Bhattacharyya has been instated as Executive Director & State Head of Uttar Pradesh-1, comprising of herculean 44 districts and is a State Level Coordinator (SLC) on behalf of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), in UP. He has spearheaded activities in the state on behalf of IndianOil during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring un-interrupted supply of domestic LPG and petroleum products in the state and has been institutional in guiding his team of Covid-warriors in selflessly serving the nation during testing times. Under his able leadership, IndianOil provided 82,000 face masks and 18000 liters of sanitizers to Department of Food and Civil Supplies, Govt. of UP, apart from contribution to PM and CM Covid-19 Fund.
